In the EU the only certification validates that guarantees a minimum of security is the EC and is mandatory for all units sold market Europe. UIAA tests, although of them are derived from testing for CE certification, are not mandatory, although still a good reference. UIAA : International Union of Alpine Associations. Founded in 1932, has more than 80 associations from 60 countries, recognized by the International Olympic Committee. It is funded by subscriptions from member associations. Unless a secretariat in Switzerland, the rest of the work is done voluntary.
